To grow Castalloy sales revenue and targeted market share in line with Group strategy. To achieve the highest volume of profitable sales consistent with long-term growth and satisfactory customer relations.

Develop and sustain an atmosphere of continuous improvement in line with Castalloys values, policies and business plan.

The position derives from the General Manager the necessary degree of authority required to

function independently, with full accountability for the results and responsibilities outlined within.

  • Financial forecasts and targets as per the business plan.
  • Processing of quotations/tenders as per the Castalloy procedure manual.
  • Authorise the initiation of new projects and design tasks.




The position reports directly to the General Manager. The incumbent will ensure that both budgeted sales and order intake levels are attained through effective establishment of a sales network and by prospecting the customer base. An important element of this position will be understanding competitors and Castalloys strengths and weaknesses. The individual is a key member of the Castalloy management team and will assist the General Manager in creating a competitive advantage.

Castalloy employs around 50 staff and produces high quality wear resistant castings for domestic and export markets in the shotblast and resource sectors totalling approximately £5M per annum.



The position purpose is to develop an environment of continuous improvement for all sales and marketing related operations, keeping the focus on achieving the Castalloy targets and key performance indicators.

The incumbent will provide motivation and development for all members of his/her team and ensure that operations are conducted in a safe, environmentally responsible, efficient manner.


  • Undertake regular visits to customers and key accounts to develop opportunities and foster beneficial relationships. Interact with customers in a social environment as required.
  • Evaluate new and existing external enquiries and prepare accurate quotations.
  • Engage in product support activities at customer locations including sample approval, production release etc.
  • Manage non-conformance issues at customer locations including inspection, sorting and product recovery where required.
  • New customer development activities in line with business strategy. Focussed on the correct products that can lead to increased margin.
  • Ensuring that Castalloy builds and retains a strong market share in its targeted areas.
  • Establishing market intelligence that promotes sound decision making for market entry, and profitable ongoing business.
  • Regularly assess the regional market position and act as required on performance relative to budget and other benchmark objectives.
  • Work with the CRM tools provided by the business to achieve improved communication and customer liaison
  • Utilise the business ERP system, AX360 to generate accurate quotations, track financial performance and progress work.
  • Report all accidents or near misses to the site health & safety officer.
  • Compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act 1974.
  • Compliance with Castalloy quality policies and procedures.
  • Maintain an up to date knowledge of company objectives, strategies and support activities.
  • Communicate progress updates to the Customer as and when required
  • Provide training, development, assistance and support to all subordinate personnel.
  • Promote a culture of ‘Can Do’ & ‘Positive Thinking’




  • Preparation of sales budgets and business plans
  • Ensure budgeted sales and order intake levels are attained (defined by sector and group).
  • Justify overheads and expenditure for sales initiatives and developments
  • Ensure all activities achieve positive results in line with the Group business plan and key performance indicators
  • The provision of management information reports to the Senior Management Team




Unless advised otherwise, in the absence of the Sales Manager the General Manager will assume and/or delegate responsibility/accountability as appropriate.



  • Ensure personal compliance with organisational health, safety and environmental rules and regulations.
  • To work with due care and consideration to safeguard their own health and safety, the health and safety of others and the environment.
  • To comply with all safe working and environmental practices and procedures set in place in Castalloy.
